On this occasion, Mrs Tembo expressed her country’s thanks to Morocco for its collaboration in the inauguration of Malawi’s diplomatic representation, praising the excellent bilateral and multilateral relations between Rabat and Lilongwe.
The inauguration of the Malawian embassy in Morocco marks a new stage in the consolidation of ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, as well as offering the opportunity to benefit from Morocco’s successful experience in several fields, she stressed in a statement to the press.
The Malawian head of diplomacy, who highlighted the convergence of views between the two countries on issues of common interest, welcomed Morocco’s continued commitment to supporting Malawi in several areas, hailing the sustained pace of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
In this sense, Mrs Tembo recalled the signing of the bilateral cooperation roadmap for the period 2022-2024, which marked the ambition of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Malawi to consolidate their bilateral relations, based on mutual respect, a strong partnership and active solidarity notably in the fields of education and training, agriculture, trade, technical cooperation, security, economic and investment promotion, and the exchange of official visits.
For his part, Mr. Bourita affirmed that the inauguration of the Embassy of the Republic of Malawi in Rabat reflects the “maturity” of bilateral relations between the Kingdom and the Republic of Malawi, as well as the level of their cooperation in several fields.
The inauguration of this diplomatic representation is in line with the shared ambition of both countries to work together to achieve their own development and that of the continent,” emphasized Mr. Bourita, noting that Malawi was thus clearly expressing its openness and ambition to promote investment opportunities, in view of the significant economic potential offered on both sides, which should be explored and taken advantage of.
On an official visit to the Kingdom from December 17 to 21 for the inauguration of her country’s embassy and the operationalization of its consulate general in Laâyoune, the head of Malawian diplomacy will travel to the southern provinces, an opportunity to witness the economic and social boom as well as the political and democratic momentum in the region.
The visit will also be an opportunity to explore the progress made in implementing the New Development Model for the Southern Provinces, launched in 2015 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
On July 29, 2021, the Republic of Malawi inaugurated its Consulate General in Laâyoune.
