The police reacted quickly after the dissemination of the video on social networks, the scene showing the assault of a policeman by an individual caught in flagrante delicto of theft and violence against an officer holding public authority, has caused widespread indignation. The latter was arrested, according to a statement from Moroccan Police.
According to the same source, police officers under the wilaya of security of Casablanca have arrested in the evening of this Friday a person appearing in a video with a stolen motorcycle and threatening a policeman intervening to ensure the safety of citizens and their property, and this, in support of specific information provided by the services of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), reports a statement from the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN).
The accused, 24 years old and registered for numerous criminal records, was apprehended in possession of a stolen motorcycle with violence before threatening a traffic officer with a blunt tool to allow his accomplice to flee aboard the stolen motorcycle, said the statement.
The intense research and investigations conducted jointly by the services of the National Security and the DGST have quickly identified the main suspect and arrested in a rural locality in the vicinity of the industrial park Jorf Lasfar, said the same source.
The accused was placed in custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office in order to clarify the circumstances of this case while research is actively continuing to arrest the second suspect, already identified, according to the same source.
