Sebta-Melilia: the land borders will open gradually

As agreed between the Moroccan and Spanish governments, the land borders between the occupied presidencies and northern Morocco will be opened gradually, said the Spanish Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska, who held a press conference in Cordoba. The latter said that a joint committee is currently working on this issue to oversee the opening. Without announcing a specific date, Marlaska said that the opening of the borders will take place “soon”. This is what the inhabitants of the two enclaves are waiting for with impatience, as the closure that has lasted since the beginning of the pandemic has had an exorbitant economic cost with the suspension of cross-border trade.  
During his speech, the Spanish minister did not fail to welcome the resumption of bilateral cooperation between Rabat and Madrid, which allowed the restoration of maritime lines. One of the concretizations of the Moroccan-Spanish
reconciliation which was officially recorded during the visit of the Head of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez in Morocco.   
Referring to bilateral relations, Fernando Grande-Marlaska stressed that “relations between Spain and Morocco have always been strategic.  
Asked about the new Spanish position on the Moroccan Sahara, the Spanish Minister of the Interior explained that his country has taken a step forward like the United States, Germany and France.
