Water security: Moroccan dams filled to 34.3%

The reservoirs of the Kingdom’s main dams reached on April 11, 2022, more than 5.52 billion cubic meters (m3), i.e. a filling rate of 34.3%, according to the Ministry of Equipment and Water.  
At the same date last year, the dams’ reserves accumulated more than 8.19 billion m3, i.e. a filling rate of 50.8%, the ministry said in a document on the daily situation of the Kingdom’s main large dams.  
In detail, Alwahda
dam has the largest reservoir with a volume reaching more than 2.03 billion m3 and a filling rate of 57.7%, against 74.5%, one year earlier.  
The Idriss I dam comes second with a reservoir of 508.6 million m3, i.e. a filling rate of 45% against 79% at the same date last year (892 million m3).  
With a filling rate of 68.1%, the Oued El Makhazine
dam is ranked third with a reservoir of 458.5 million m3.
