Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel praised the perseverance and risk-taking of his Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech, after his team’s victory over Crystal Palace (1-0), for the 26th day of the Premier League.
“Ziyech’s first goal in the 75th was unfortunately disallowed, but he kept believing, he had a good game and kept trying to score by taking risks,” the German manager stressed in a statement to BBC Match of the Day.
Risk-taking is sometimes necessary to win, you can’t just “try to avoid making mistakes” and right now, Ziyech has found the right balance that allows him to dose his risk-taking, Tuchel said.”I’m glad he was there at the last minute,” he concluded about the 28-year-old, who has scored in the Blues’ last three Premier League games.
Designated man of the match, Ziyech, for his part, said that the game was difficult because his team could not create many opportunities.”Certainly we had the goal disallowed, but scoring in the last minute gives you the best feeling possible,” said the Chelsea wizard. On the team’s chances in the championship, the Moroccan conceded that it was difficult. “But that’s why we play soccer, to win trophies. That’s what we try to do. We have already won two this season and we still have four to win.”The win over Crystal Palace was only Chelsea’s third in their last nine top flight games, but it follows a 2-0 win over Tottenham on January 23.
The clash in South London was the first in the league for almost a month for Chelsea, who were in Abu Dhabi where the team won the Club World Cup.”Certainly we had the goal disallowed, but scoring in the last minute gives you the best feeling possible,” said the Chelsea wizard.
