El Jadida: suspicious death of an engineer buried twice

The investigation conducted by the judicial police of El Jadida, under the supervision of the Attorney General of the King at the Court of Appeal of El Jadida, on the case of the suspicious death of a retired engineer, has not yet delivered all its secrets. The man died of poisoning and his belongings were stolen when he was dying.

Moreover, several questions have been raised about the way his burial took place without his relatives and children being notified, about his admission to the hospital emergency room and the authorization of burial without autopsy. These procedures were carried out by an individual who presented himself as the owner of the apartment that the deceased was renting in El Jadida.

This is what prompted his family to file a complaint with the courts, reports the daily Assabah, which looks into the case in its weekend edition of February 19 and 20. Thus, the Prosecutor General’s Office of El Jadida ordered the burial of the corpse and demanded an autopsy to determine the causes of death. After an autopsy performed in Casablanca, the victim’s body was buried by his family in a cemetery in Temara, say the daily’s sources, without giving details of the results of this autopsy.

And to underline that the goods of the deceased were transferred under dubious conditions. This feeds the hypothesis of a crime. Thus, the daily said, a farm whose value exceeds three million dirhams in the province of Khémisset, was sold for 500,000 dirhams. The same was true for an apartment in an upscale neighborhood in Rabat, which was sold at a derisory price.

These transactions were made during the period when the deceased was installed in El Jadida he had joined for personal reasons in 2019, say sources of the daily.  And add that the investigation is oriented since Thursday on the contradictions found in the minutes and administrative documents and health related to the death, all supervised by the same individual. The latter presented himself as the owner of the apartment that the deceased was renting. This person has a criminal record and cases pending before the courts for forgery, forgery and theft. As much to say that this affair will know new twists.
