Many professions have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and especially with the extension of the state of health emergency, including artisans in Fez, says the Istiqlali deputy, Abdelmajid Fassi Fihri in his question to the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts in the House of Representatives, stressing that “several artisans have been forced to stop any kind of activity, losing their sources of livelihood, knowing that they do not benefit from any medical or social coverage.
“Fez is known, historically, by its handicrafts (…) The current situation requires an urgent gesture from the government to preserve this sector and the handicrafts that attract a good number of national and foreign tourists,” the parliamentarian continued.
For the record, the autonomous session, the first of the current legislature, closed on Wednesday 2 February. However, legislative work continues at the level of standing committees and elected representatives retain the right, outside the session, to put written questions to the government as part of the control of the work of the Executive and the monitoring of public policies.
