A total of 2,255 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus and 5,224 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said on Sunday.
In its daily bulletin on the epidemiological situation, the Ministry noted that the number of people who received their first vaccination reached 24,654,749, that of those who received two doses amounted to 23,073,779, while 4,376,913 people received three injections.
The new infection toll brings the total number of infections since the first case was reported in Morocco in March 2020 to 1,131,913, while the number of people who have recovered has risen to 1,069,423, representing a cure rate of 94.5%.
The new cases were recorded in the regions of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (549), Casablanca-Settat (387), Marrakech-Safi (314), Fès-Meknès (271), Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (197), Souss-Massa (169), Oriental (117), Beni Mellal-Khénifra (106), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (90), Drâa-Tafilalet (28), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (18) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (9).
The total number of deaths rose to 15.362 (case-fatality 1.4%), with 34 new cases recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (10), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (9), Marrakech-Safi (5), Souss-Massa (3), Fès-Meknès (2), Beni Mellal-Khénifra (2), Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (1), l’Oriental (1) and Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (1).
There were 46,610 active cases, while 114 new severe or critical cases were recorded in 24 hours, for a total of 767, including 22 under intubation. The occupancy rate of the resuscitation beds is 14.6%.
