Covid-19. Morocco: Rabat region overtakes Casablanca in number of cases

A total of 2,622 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) and 1,346 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said on Monday.

In its daily bulletin on the epidemiological situation, the Ministry noted that the number of people who received their first vaccination reached 24,597,287, that of those who received two doses amounted to 22,982,161, while 3,525,886 people received three injections.

The new infection toll brings the total number of infections since the first case was reported in Morocco in March 2020 to 1,004,706, while the number of people who have recovered has risen to 952,751, representing a cure rate of 94.8%.

The new cases were recorded in the regions of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (1.074), Casablanca-Settat (940), Marrakech-Safi (256), Souss-Massa (141), Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (54), Fès-Meknès (53), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (35), Oriental (24), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (15), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (13), Guelmim-Oued Noun (10) and Draâ-Tafilalet (7).

The total number of deaths rose to 14,915 (case-fatality 1.5%), with 4 new cases recorded in the regions of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Casablanca-Settat, Souss-Massa and Oriental.

There are 37,040 active cases and 55 new severe or critical cases have been recorded in 24 hours for a total of 314, including 9 under intubation. The occupancy rate of the resuscitation beds is 6%.
