New Publication on Security Policies in Morocco

The Arab Center for Research and Political Studies in Doha has published a book entitled “Security policies in Morocco: about power and political elites” written by journalist and security policy researcher Ihssan El Hafedi, in which he traces the development of the relationship between power and the political community in a context of pluralism.

This book presents the impact of Moroccan political transformations on the control of security policies by analyzing the roles played by Parliament and the political elite in the development of public security policies.

The book is published by the Center’s publishing house in Beirut. The 328-page book is divided into six chapters and two sections. The author discusses the issue of public security policies, particularly with regard to crisis management and the links between security and penal policies in Morocco, with regard to the 2011 constitution and the reform of security policies on a constitutional basis.

The author also examines the mechanisms of control of security policies and the forms of administrative control implemented over these security policies. He also discusses the judiciary as well as the mechanisms of control of the action of the security forces aimed in particular at guaranteeing respect for human rights.
