The urban transport company “Alsa Maroc”, which operates in Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, Khouribga, Rabat, Salé, Temara and Casablanca, announced on Monday the adoption of a series of preventive measures, in the wake of efforts to overcome the crisis of the pandemic of the new Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the Kingdom.
Taking into account the situation and developments regarding this crisis, Alsa stressed, in a statement, that these emergency measures aim to “protect the health of citizens (users and staff) and limit the spread of the virus”. These measures “take account of the pathogenic and contagious nature of the virus”, the same source said, pointing out that “compliance with the rules on distance between people is one of the most effective measures, in accordance with the recommendations of the Kingdom’s health authorities, to limit the spread of the virus”. Thus, the company decided to reduce the maximum number of passengers per bus in operation to 40, to deploy teams in the various buses in order to make passengers aware of the distances to be kept between each passenger and to distribute antiseptic gel to all the company’s staff, as well as to all Alsa bus users. It also involves cleaning at each terminal throughout the day to disinfect the main parts of the bus (handrails, doors, chairs, etc.), treating all buses daily with a bactericidal product, conducting a daily awareness campaign to give instructions to protect customers and staff, and creating a crisis unit to monitor the evolution of the Coronavirus in order to take the necessary decisions.
“Permanent contact with the competent authorities is being put in place in order to take the measures that are necessary,” assured the company.
